Good news for fans of the painted buffaloes scattered around Great Falls this summer. Many of the gorgeous creatures are staying in northcentral Montana.

Liang's Oil Named Juror's Best

An oil painting by a California artist is the Juror's Best of Show for the upcoming 2006 C.M. Russell Auction. Calvin Liang from Corona, Calif., received the award for an oil on canvas entitled "Newport Sailboats."

Formally trained at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Liang applied his artistic skills to the theatrical industry in China, where he designed and created sets for the Canton Opera Institute. He moved to the United States...

Great Falls man earns aspiring artist award

For the first time in the history of the C.M. Russell Auction of Original Western Art, a Great Falls artist earned the Ralph Tuffy Berg Award.

From white to black to vibrant color: Charles Fulcher displays paintings at Zoot

"I don't know of any other artist who leaves a black background," Curtis Tierney said. Tierney Fine Art, a Bozeman gallery, represents Fulcher in this area. "The thing which is so striking about his work is his style is so fresh and different," Tierney said.

The painter describes his styles as expressionistic, which allows him to take some liberties with colors, shapes and other painting components.
